Stop Russia from Slaughtering Stray Animals

Dear renate,

There is no animal welfare legislation in Russia. Hundreds of thousands of stray cats and dogs die every year from hunger, cold, disease, and inhumane killings. Things are about to get even worse.

Tell the Russian government the world is watching – and we won’t stand by as animals are abused.

Without consulting animal welfare organizations, the State Duma (Russian legislator) is revising the draft Statute “On responsible handling of animals.” Many fear that the Statute will be revised to legalize the euthanasia of stray animals for population control. “Euthanasia” is a deceptive word for what will actually occur: the slaughter of thousands of animals.

There are no proposals to fight animal cruelty, no encouragement of sterilization, and no pet breeding or pet trade regulations to speak of. Corrupt organizations will pocket the money intended for humane killings while slaughtering the animals mercilessly.

Show your support for legislation that provides humane ways of dealing with the stray pet population.

Thank you for taking action,
